Raku Horses

The horses began in 2006 while studying Animal Science at the University of Vermont. At that time, I had already decided that I was going to pursue a further education in clay, but wanted to complete my ASCI degree. I created an independent study to explore animals in art and then create something from my discoveries. The horse pictured to the right is the first horse I created.

Since that time, well over 200 horses have been made and found new homes. They have evolved slightly- some having bases made from wood, others stone and some remain with no base at all.
