About Lindsey

I reside in Massachusetts where I work out of my home studio. I create functional work that is curvaceous and sleek with long movements and lines, producing gestural qualities. The movement is designed to flow with the form, to create a feeling of vivacity and energy. It is to be expressed uninhibitedly and eloquently and to act in harmony with the surface treatments.

I am looking for an element of refined cleanliness in my craftsmanship that aids in enhancing the gestural qualities of the piece. All aspects are taken into consideration to elevate and unify each piece, as well as giving it presence. This sense of harmony in the piece allows for an intimate relationship with user, reducing some of the distractions from our busy and fast-paced lives.

The nature and behavior of animals and plants that surround us inspires me to create lively forms. The curves and lines of growing squash and gourds; the gestural curiosity of a young animal; the movement and harmony of a horse and rider inspire me to create forms that encourage the viewer to interact and engage with the piece. With these considerations, the forms seek to be engaging, beautiful and active visually, encouraging our use.

In addition to clay, I have a passion for horses and sought a way to express that in clay. From that realization, she began to create horse sculptures, trying to capture the movement and essence of the horse. Horses will always be a part of my life, so it is only logical to try and bring both aspects together, to create something beautiful.
